Hair is such a fun part of our identity. We can change our hair in countless ways, cut it, style it, colour it, the options are endless. But we also need to remember that our hair needs to be taken care of and knowing what you’re putting in your hair is just as important as how it looks.
I have gone blonde and back to dark brown, but my first priority was to always keep my hair as healthy as possible. I feel I did really well with that while I was colouring it, but even now as I give my hair a break from colour, I still want my hair to be taken care of and remain strong, shiny, and overall healthy. I thought I would share my current hair care routine with you, because let me tell you it’s AMAZING!
First let’s talk shampoo and condition, these are two items probably everyone uses but there are so many options out there it can be overwhelming to find the right one for you. I like to look at what the product offers for my hair and look at the ingredients. Right now I am using the Superfoods Color Lock Shampooand the Conditioner. These products are vegan, cruelty-free, no sulphates, pH balanced, no parabens, and colour-safe. Not to mention they smell amazing, but the ingredients are packed with nutrients to help my hair stay healthy, feel great, and help my colour last longer.
Next comes a hair mask, I only started using hair masks about 6 months ago, but they are such a great addition to my routine. What’s really great is you can use most hair masks while you are in the shower, so you don’t have to worry about taking extra time. I alternate between two different hair masks, first the Revitalize Hair Mask with Macadamia Oil, this mask keeps my hair shiny and revitalized. This means less frizz, less tangles, and it prevents brittle hair strands! The other mask is the Volumize Hair Mask with Tea Tree Oil, I love using anything with tea tree oil, I really believe in what tea tree can do and I know it’s a great product. I have a lot of hair stands but my actual hair isn’t thick so anything that can help give me some volume I am all for!
The last part of my hair care routine is a nice hair oil. I really got into using hair oils when I went blonde, I felt like my hair needed all the extra moisture and it made styling my hair a dream. Now I use the Superfoods Color Lock Serum(same as the shampoo and conditioner) I will put a little bit of this serum into my wet hair before letting it dry, or if my hair is already dry and I am curling my hair I will add a little bit before to add some shine. I have also added some at the end if I felt it needed some extra shine or moisture. I found that my curls held much better than leaving my hair untreated. The last product I am going to talk about is the EVOO Intense Repair Oil Treatment, this is one I would use before going to bed to give my hair a replenish of moisture, this is great with winter around the corner! The cold weather is brutal on hair! I also have to say the packaging on this product is adorable, everything in the line is made to look more like a cooking ingredient!
Okay, I know I threw a lot of information out at you, but the best part is that everything I mentioned here is available at Sally Beauty. I LOVE a one stop shop, no one has time to be searching different stores for products, so this was amazing, plus you can also set it up that your products will be auto delivered like a subscription, so you never have to worry about running out of product, how great is that!
I get so excited talking about hair care, I feel like it’s a constant work in progress, trying new products, mixing up how you use products, and how often you use them. Rule of thumb for me, try to wash my hair every other day or every third day if I can make it. For hair masks once a week unless my hair is super dry, and oils I use when I curl my hair, or a deep oil repair ever 2-3 weeks.
I would love to hear your current hair care routine and if there is something you would like to change about it!
